Diversity Intiative.

Today, I took part in a diversity initiative focus group.

Diversity Initiative (t.)*-A politically correct term for getting all 10 of the African-American Stern freshman together to find out how Stern can increase the number of African-Americans to perhaps, I don't know maybe 11 next year.

Ok, now that we've straightened that out, let us continue. After being probed and prodded(asked random questions about college) for over an hour for answers to the overwhelming questions being asked of us; we came to a general consensus. Stern can get more African-American students to attend their school the same way that they can get more students of any race to attend: GIVE MORE MONEY!!!!!!!

Apparently this is a hard concept to grasp. More money=More African-American students. It's not rocket science, just common sense (duh). However, there's more to this story.

Directly after leaving the diversity initiative focus group (10 African-American Sternies), I stumble upon the handy-dandy Washington Square News (crappy school newspaper) which actually has published an informative/useful article for once. Entitled "Targeting low-income families is not the right move for the university,"this article explains NYU's new (racist and economically biased) plan. With this new (racist and economically biased) plan, NYU places calls to "low-income families asking them to consider whether the university is the right “financial fit” for them."

Hmmmm....interesting. Having just left a diversity initiative focus group (10 African-American Sternies), this seems completely....I don't know..... inconsistent. We all know who those "low-income" families are comprised of, mainly African-American and Latinos. It just seems odd to me that after leaving a group that wants to add diversity(more African-Americans), there is another initiative that is simultaneously discouraging it.

NYU, you never cease to amaze, but this stunt, it truly deserves an award, for most audacious move to limit racial and economic diversity. You deserve a round of applause.

Welcome to my Blog.

Hello all,

I would like to formally welcome you to my blog, it's nothing special, just a place for me to talk about how I feel about random objects or events whenever I feel like it. And possibly maybe even use what I learned in Writing the Essay, because let's face it; I will never be able to use it again. Cost of WTE class $4,384. The fact that Stream of Consciousness writing is only useful for blogging or if your name is Virginia Woolf. Interesting.
