Stalker!

Ok, seriously HighSnobette stop doing this....sheesh. I try to be completely impartial when putting up fashion related things that I like on my blog and everytime I log on to your site I see the same shit I have posted. This coinkadink is really starting to get out of hand.

Sincerely,
Slightly Annoyed Blogger.

Androgyny.

RAD by Rad Hourani

So I'm normally not into Hourani's clothes mostly becuase they are often off the wall crazy and not to mention way out of my price range (duh), but Rad Hourani's new RTW collection is HOT. It's extremely casual, has great silhouettes, and of course is unisex as are most (if not all) of Hourani's works.

Blogger Blocker Broken.

Ok, crazy alliteration in the title. But anyways, lately I've had absolutely NO ideas for blog posts. Hmmmm.....crazy. just when I thought I was on a roll blogging nearly everyday I come to a complete stop. I've decided that my lack of creativity has been stifled by an influx in wild, quite depressing life events.

However, now that most of that is under control, I am able to express myself once again. Blogger Blocker, you have been broken. And for now on, I'll try not to let things in life get in the way of well......life .

thoughts of my day.

I've decided today that there is something seriously bothering me. Seriously. And that thing is college and the financial aid system. I have been "fortunate" enough to have all my loans and such come through this year to allow me to return to school on time and with all debts paid.

However, more and more I've been hearing the same lines from quite a few of my friends. "I don't know if I can go back to school this year." And honestly this is really starting to piss me off. It's absolutely not fair that a perfectly capable and hard-working student cannot return to school because they do not have the money. I seriously feel that the system works against us. Middle class and upper middle class people get screwed when it comes to college. We're not poor enough to get state and federal aid, but not rich enough to simply pay the full tuition.

So what are we to do? Next year I may very well be in that "not going back category" not because I didn't do what I was supposed to do in school, but because I simply am not going to be able to afford it. I love Obama and everything and support his initiatives, but something needs to be done about this. Healthcare for every person is important, but no where near as important as educating our people. Because let's face it, most of the people without health insurance are the ones who are also without education.

And to be even more honest, I'm tired of supporting and bolstering the lives of others. There's no stimulus package or large scale projects in the works to support and help me and others like me remain in college, but millions are being spent on things like war, welfare, and food stamps. And what further angers me is while I'll be in thousands of dollars in debt when I graduate, I find it funny that the gov't uses my parents tax money to send other people's kids to college for free. This whole system is one huge revolving door, I just pray that I can stay in college long enough to make it out.

Worked out.

My bf has been suggesting that we work out together for the longest (bad idea). I did do yoga when I was in school (shout out to Yoga to the People), but now I've become lazy and absolutely loathe exercise.

Anyways this morning we got up and decided to do it (work out that is) and now my body feels like absolute crap and the whole time I got yelled at for not keeping up. However, there is some good to this story, I discovered Gatorade X-factor. So good.

Moral of the story: Don't workout with your boyfriend, but be cautious because you just might wind up finding a great drink.

not that bad :).

So I think it was last week sometime when I talked about AE and how superficial they are. And while I still think that their hiring practices are completely outrageous, discriminatory, and unfair, I will say that once you are in, they treat you like GOLD.

The discount is AMAZING and I must say it's a really cool place to work. Really cool, trendy people, kinda reminds me of NY and is a way for me to escape Willingboro until I get back. The only thing is...the pay SUCKS.

IDK though, maybe I was wrong, maybe I wasn't but for now I'm gonna enjoy it. Hell, there's only a few more weeks of summer left anyways.

Watch me.

Once again here's another made-for-male item that I would like to own, scaled down to a female size of course.

Change the World.

So lately I've been eager to do things that will help change the world for the better. I was first introduced to Kiva through by my business ethics class. Kiva helps to micro-finance individuals in third-world countries asking for relatively small loans to start or help a business grow and succeed.

Most of the loans don't exceed $500 and everyone is only asked to give $25. The repayment is rate is surprisingly high and even if it wasn't...so what. Do something to help the world.

Bag it.

I really, really would love to have this bag. It's made by a new company called Novella Royale, who uses old leather jackets to make bags. So not only is it a hot bag; it's also eco-friendly :)

Price upon request.

This phrase is a favorite of magazines like Vogue and Elle. When you're flipping through your fashion mags and look down to see the price of that item that you think is soooo hot, there it is, Price Upon Request.

They should just go ahead and put what it REALLY means...

"Bitch please, you know damn well you can't afford
that."

Put in work.

I think this summer has been THE most productive summer I've ever had. I'm working 2 jobs, learning to design websites (and getting pretty good at it, BTW), and even getting a headstart on next semesters classes. Most importantly, however, I'm learning more about who I want to be and what I want out of life.

Mediocrity is no longer an option. Get motivated.

[Too] Fingers.

I've been wanting a 2 finger ring for a while now...problem is that I haven't been able to find a design that I like. I believe this a man's ring but whatev, the jeweler can make one to fit :)

Reigny Day.

I am in NO way a fan of rain boots. I think they look absloutely ridiculous. But these boots are goregeous...too bad they are way out of my budget.

Move Over Bitch.

So in THE CITY...and by the city I mean New York, everybody's all Starbucked out. And I must admit so was I come the end of last semester. But now that I'm back home, I have to make this known.

WAWA > Starbucks.

Sorry.
Not to mention Wawa is a FULL convenience store and occasional gas station. No Wi-Fi, but plenty of people to pump your gas for you.

-Shanique.

P.S. Not in NJ...pump your own shit.

Superficial.

Today was my first day at my new job, American Eagle. In a record breaking 24hrs., I was interviewed, hired, went through orientation and even began working at this "great job." However, what I've decided is that AE and all those other places like it, you know the ones, A&F, Hollister, Urban, are all superficial, completely shallow companies.

Not only was I hired strictly because of the way I look, I was also told that another person was not hired not because they weren't qualified but because they did not posses the AE look. First of all, I didn't know that you needed to be qualified to fold clothes. Secondly, it's really sad that these companies only seek to portray a certain body type and therefore only promote a particular way that all people should look. No, people are not created in the same way, however, that doesn't mean that they should be treated any differently.

But perhaps I'm wrong. Maybe I should just shut up and be glad that I fit into what AE is looking for and be happy that they offered me a job. That's how life works right, it sometimes is brutal and unfair. Karl Marx once said the life is battle between the haves and the have-nots. I guess this time I get to be a have.

Image Capturing Device.

So the picture in the heading I know is random, but it happens to be an item that I found in my great-aunts basement. Circa 1972, the Minolta Hi-Matic F comes in an interesting box that refers to the camera as an "Image Capturing Device." Okay...whatever, camera. I thought it was a hilarious marketing scheme so I decided to feature it.

ART.

Yulia Brodskaya...her work is DOPE.

I used to think that art was stupid...just some crap that a person put together to make millions. But as I'm getting older, I see the appeal and more importantly, the captivation. There's more to art than what meets the eye, sometimes you have to dig a little deeper to find it.

Start Up.

It's been a while...about a week, I think, but my blog is making some progress towards looking more advertising like. I don't know though it still doesn't look as I imagined so I'll go back to work until my perfectionist drive is satisfied. In the mean-time, I've been working on other things, creating and illustrating some pretty good websites and blogs for friends and relatives. I'll post them when I get the time.
